(57) Abstract The invention relates to a yarn which is especially intended for use as a warp and/or weft strand in the manufacture of a dryer fabric used in a paper machine or a like. The cross-section of said yarn comprises a reinforcing portion (1) and one or a plurality of side portions (2) associated with and extending from reinforcing por- tion (1). The smallest diameter of side portion (2) as viewed in a direction perpendicular to the main plane of a dryer fabric to be woven is substantially less than the greates diameter of reinforcing portion (1) in the same direction. This makes it possible to place two adjacent warp and/or weft strands in a partially overlapping relationship in a direction perpendicular to the main plane of a dryer fabric. Fig. 1a
