Yeast cells are engineered to express both a surrogate of a pheromone system protein (e.g., enzymes involved in maturation of .alpha.-factor, transporters of .alpha.-factor, pheromone receptors, etc.) and apotential peptide modulator of the surrogate, in such a manner that the inhibition or activation of the surrogate affects a screenable or selectable trait of the yeast cells. Various additional features improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the screening/selection system.
Des cellules de levure sont traitées pour exprimer à la fois un substitut d'une protéine du sytème de phéromones (p.ex. enzymes actives dans la maturation du facteur alpha, transporteurs de facteur a, récepteurs de phéromones, etc.) et un modulateur peptidique potentiel du substitut, de façon à ce que l'inhibition ou l'activation du substitut modifie une caractéristique criblable et sélectionnable des cellules de levure. Différentes caractéristiques additionnelles améliorent le rapport signal/bruit du système de criblage/sélection.
