A transgenic crop plant transformed by a Hookless-Like Stress-Related Polypeptide (HSRP) coding nucleic acid, wherein expression of the nucleic acid sequence in the crop plant results in the plant's increased root growth, and/or increased yield, and/or increased tolerance to environmental stress as compared to a wild type variety of the plant. Also provided are agricultural products, including seeds, produced by the transgenic crop plants. Also provided are isolated novel HSRPs and isolated novel nucleic acid coding HSRPs, and vectors and transgenic plant containing the same.

Plante transgénique cultivée transformée par un acide nucléique codant le polypeptide lié au stress de type hookless (Hookless-Like Stress-Related Polypeptide (HSRP)), l'expression de la séquence d'acides nucléiques dans la plante cultivée augmentant la croissance racinaire et/ou le rendement, et/ou la tolérance au stress ambiant, par rapport à une variété correspondante de type sauvage. On décrit aussi des produits agricoles, y compris des semences, que donnent les plantes transgéniques cultivées, et par ailleurs des HSRP isolés et un acide nucléique isolé codant les HSRP, et enfin des vecteurs et des plantes transgéniques les contenant.
