1414 P/2 CA A ZIG ZAG SEWING MACHINE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a zig zag sewing machine, an arm shaft is rotatably supported on an arm thereof and carries at one end a crank member. The arm shaft performs a clockwise rotation as seen from the crank member side end. Due to such rotation of the arm shaft, a needle bar is given a reciprocating motion, and also a lateral movement in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the arm shaft. A bed shaft is rotatably supported on a bed in parallel to the arm shaft and extending from a position corresponding to the reciprocating path of the needle towards an opposite side of the arm shaft. A loop taker having a loop seizing beak is mounted to the bed shaft at the corresponding position and rotated synchronously with and in an opposite direction to the rotation of the arm shaft. The loop seizing beak of the loop taker is positioned to an opposite side of the bed shaft in regard to the reciprocating path of the needle.
