ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the removal of cadmium, copper, cobalt and nickel impurities from zinc sulphate solution by zinc dust cementation with an antimony promoter of said cementation as an aqueous solution of antimony in the penta- valent state. The aqueous solution of antimony may be prepared by oxidation of an aqueous solution of a trivalent antimony compound such as potassium antimony tartrate to the pentavalent state or by dissolving a hexafluoroantimonate such as sodium antimony hexafluoride in water.
