A re-closeable zipper is used to seal an opening in a flexible container such as a bag. The zipper includes two opposing zipper elements. The first zipper element defines a rib. The second zipper element defines a groove. The two zipper elements are positioned on the outside surfaces of two opposing walls of the container, adjacent the opening. To close the opening of the container, the rib of the first zipper element is pushed against the two opposing walls so that the rib and two opposing walls are locked within the groove, to form a tight seal. The zipper may be one or two pieces that are separable from the container, or the zipper may be fastened to, or manufactured as part of, the container. The invention also includes a container with a re-closeable zipper and a method of providing a re-closeable zipper for a container.
