Abstract of the disclosure: The invention relates to zirconium- and/or haf- nium-containing zeolites, a process for their preparation and their use. To prepare these compounds, a mixture of silicon compounds, aluminum compounds, sodium compounds, potassium compounds, choline compounds, water and zir- conium compounds and/or hafnium compounds in specified proportions is prepared, and this mixture is heated in a sealed vessel. The zeolites are used as catalysts in the preparation of C2-C4-olefins from methanol.
