A B S T R A C T A diaper fastener for use on a disposable diaper having an absorb- ent body and a plastic backing sheet, the fastener comprising a strip of tape folded into a "Z" configuration having contiguous first, second, and third legs, said strip having a front surface and a reverse surface and being coated with an adhesive on the front surface of each of said first and third legs, the front surface of said second leg being free of adhesive, said first leg front surface being in contact with said plastic backing sheet and said third leg front surface being in contact with said second leg front surface thereby forming a subunit comprising said second and third legs, said subunit being releasably secured to said first leg reverse surface.
