RECEIVING SEISMIC WAVES WITH AN ACCELEROMETER AND A HYDROPHONE Abstract of the Disclosure Reflected seismic waves are detected in a seismic prospect with an accelerometer and a hydrophone which can be physically mounted in a single casing to form a composite sensor. The outputs of the individual detectors can be processed separately or in combination or in any desired fashion, for example, to provide a cardioid directional seismic signal. The acceler- ometer has maximum sensitivity to vertical forces and substantially zero sensitivity to horizontal forces.
