A body has an adhesive surface which is resiliently flexible, the bond strength of the adhesive elements substantially exceeding the bond strength between the adhesive elements and the surface to be cleaned. The body is moved relative to and into contact with the surface of the record to be cleaned to pick up contaminants from the surface.
