ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE External bending of an inner ?h?? improves the performance of hydrostatic bo?rings in a controlled deflection roll arrangement. A deflection sensing member within the deflection roll sends signals through a control circuit to a biasing arrangement near the ends of the shaft that applies ? force into the inner shaft causing it to bend and counter any deflection in the roll.
