SEALING MECHANISM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An elevator conveyor provided with sealing means which comprises at least one sealing strip. Biasing means is provided for lightly biasing the sealing strip towards the belt and a flexible obturating strip is fixedly mounted with respect to the airbox and secured to the sealing strip so as to substantially seal the airbox against substantial airflow therefrom. The arrangement is such that, in operation, superatmospheric pressure, obtained in the airbox, gives rise to forces exerted on the obturating strip which, in operation of the conveyor, has a substantially arcuately curved surface whereby the forces exerted on the sealing strip arising out of the superatmospheric pressure are substantially counterbalanced.
