ABSTRACT OF THE disclosure This invention relates to novel compositions of matter comprising immobilized enzyme conjugates. More specifically the invention is concerned with novel compositions of matter which comprise an immobilized enzyme conjugate which consists of an organic-inorganic matrix constituting an inorganic porous support material containing an organic polymeric material which has been formed in situ from a monomer, hydrolyzed polymer, or preformed polymer of synthetic or natural origin by reaction with a bifunctional monomer containing suitable reactive moieties. Said polymer material is both entrapped and adsorbed in the pores of the aforesaid support material, and is further provided with functionalized pendent groups extending therefrom, the funtional moieties being located at or adjacent to the terminal portions thereof, and an enzyme which is both covalently bound to said functionalized pendent groups as well as being adsorbed in part on the organic-inorganic matrix.
