ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is a reinforced plastic article and a process of manufacturing the same. The article comprises at least one layer of a combination of glass fibres and steel cord. The process comprises advancing a set of resin impreg- nated glass fibre rovings and a set of steel cords to a guiding system which is mounted in the vicinity of a mandrel and movable axially along the mandrel. The fibres and cords are brought into mutual longitudinal contact by the guiding system and the parallel fibres and cords are guided as a layer onto the mandrel surface so as to arrange and embed each cord in a fibre roving. The resulting reinforced plastic articles have improved mechanical properties such as strength, rigidity, impact resistance, etc.
