PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne une nouvelle alumine hautement réactive et son procédé de préparation. L'alumine selon l'invention est caractérisée en ce qu'elle possède une structure amorphe et en ce que sa surface spécifique est supérieure à 600 m2/g. Elle est préparée par décomposition thermique du carbonate double d'aluminium et d'ammonium de formule A1 NH4 CO3 (OH)2 à une température comprise entre 200 et 500°C. Elle entre dans la préparation d'hydroxychlorures d'aluminium de formule Al2 (OH)x C16-x.
