Abstract This invention describes novel steroidal [16.alpha.,17-d]- cyclohexenes of the formula Image wherein R1 is hydrogen, hydroxy, halogen, or acyloxy; R2 and R3 are the same or different and are hydrogen, alkyl, or aryl; R4 is hydrogen and R5 is hydroxy, or together R4 and R5 are =0; and R6 is hydrogen, methyl, or fluorine and the dotted line in the 1,2-position represents optional ethylenic unsaturation and a process for preparing these compounds which are useful as anti-inflammatory agents.
