VARIABLE CROWN SLEEVE ROLL Abstract of the Disclosure: In a variable crown sleeve roll, a sleeve is seal- ingly secured on its inner peripheral surface at opposite ends to an arbor on its outer peripheral surface at opposite ends to define a chamber of a predetermined shape therebetween at the central portion. A pressurized fluid is supplied into said chamber through a passage in the arbor so as to control the quantity of the crown of the roll. Values of the smallest thickness of the sleeve at the axially central position of the sleeve, the pressure receiving sleeve part length and the sleeve thickness taper angle for defining said chamber are selected in accordance with predetermined conditional equations. - 1 -
