ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A slide fastener chain comprises a multiplicity of pairs of predetermined unit length of slide fastener stringers each including a support tape and a row of interlocking fastener elements secured to an inner longitudi- nal edge of the support tape. The slide fastener stringers are disposed in the same plane with their respective adjoin- ing ends confronting with each other across a gap space. Each of the fastener elements has a coupling head and connecting portions. Jointing means conjoining the unit length of slide fastener stringers comprise a thermoplastic slug on each support tape, the slug generally conforming in cross-sectional profile to the contour of the respective row of fastener elements and an adhesive reinforcing strip integral with the respective slug and extending over substantially full width of the respective support tape. The invention provides advance in the art whereby the adjoining unit lengths of fastener stringers are interconnected by such jointing means which will permit sliders to run smoothly therethrough along the fastener element rows. At the same time, the invention precludes accidental split-opening of the opposed stringers that have been coupled.
