Abstract of the Disclosure A water heater comprises a metallic receptacle having a lower cold-water inlet and an upper hot-water outlet. A heating body consisting of a graphite-coated lattice of glass fibres sandwiched between two sheets of heat resistant plastics material is disposed outside the receptacle, and surrounded by a layer of thermal insulating material itself enclosed in a rigid outer envelope. Baffles within the receptacle produce a spiral circulation of the water.
