ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Type L zeolites are prepared by a nucleation tech- nique wherein a first aqueous mixture of water, a sili- ca source, an alumina source, an alkali metal hydroxide, and optionally a source of organic template cation is prepared, homogenized and aged at a tempera- ture and for a time sufficient so as to initiate and establish crystallization. This first aqueous mixture is added to a second freshly prepared homogenized aqueous mixture of substantially the same composition as the first mixture, which is then maintained at ele- vated temperatures sufficient to ensure crystalliza- tion of the desired zeolite phase.
