Abstract of the disclosure: A method is described for the photometric determina- tion of the concentration of a reactant in a reaction in which scattering centers are formed or consumed in the sense of a transition from Rayleigh to Mie scattering by determining the peak rate or reaction (Vmax) and the time from the start of the reaction to the appearance of the peak rate of reaction (tmax). The concentration is determined as a single value by empirically establishing the functional relationship between concentration, Vmax and tmax using a standard prep- aration, measuring Vmax and tmax on the sample, and deter- mining the concentration of the reactant by means of the relationship between the concentration of the reactant and Vmax and tmax determined on the standard preparation.
