ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An innerspring is assembled from coil springs 1 each having final upper and lower turns 2a, 2b lying in parallel planes. Each final turn has a flattened area 5a or 5b defined by a straight running length of wire 6a or 6b. The opposite side of each final turn is circularly shaped. The two flattened areas of each spring are co-planar. Such coil springs may be simply and quickly produced by automatic machines, and enable the construction of innersprings with increased edge firmness and squeak suppression.
