Abstract Acid rain removes the essential elements calcium,magnesium, iron and zinc from the foliage of trees and plants and from the soil resulting in deficiencies causing chlorosis in these plants. Acid rain also mobilizes toxic elements in the soil like alumnium and lead,which poison the roots of plants and trees so that they no longer can absorb water and nutrients from the soil. In this invention, water soluble salts of calcium,magnesium, iron and zinc are combined with asparaginic-,glutamic- and glucuronic acid, the latter having a detoxifying effect on the roots and reversing the toxic effects of lead and alumnium and thus allowing the uptake of the missing essential elements calcium,magnesium,iron and zinc.
