ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention relates to a cyclohexane-1,3-dione derivative of the formula: (I), Image where R1 is a fused ring system which consists of two aromatic or non-aromatic rings, each having 5, 6 or 7 ring members, can contain not more than three heteroatoms selected from the group consisting of oxygen, sulfur and nitrogen, and can be unsubstituted or substituted by C1-C3-alkyl, C1-C3-alkoxy, C1-C3-alkylthio or halogen, with the proviso that one or both of the rings contain a heteroatom if both rings are non-aromatic, R2 is hydrogen, methoxycarbonyl, ethoxycarbonyl, methyl or cyano, R3 is C1-C4-alkyl and R4 is C1-C3-alkyl, C3-C4-alkenyl, C3-C4- haloalkenyl containing 1 to 3 halogen substituents, or propargyl, or a salt thereof. The invention also relates to processes for the manufacture of these compounds which are useful for controlling indesirable plant growth.
