ABSTRACT A composition and method are disclosed for sealing containers containing beverages based on vegetable matter, i.e. beer, ale, wine, fruit and vegetable juices. An improved iron migration resistance from the container or sealing materials therein into the beverage is accomplished by a sealing composition consisting of a vinyl chloride resin, a plasticizer for the resin, and a metal oxide in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 50 parts per 100 parts resin.
