32476CA Abstract of the Disclosure A tongue-in-groove die and process for its use are provided herein. The tongue-in-groove die includes a first mold half having a groove and a second mold half having a tongue which is juxtaposed with respect to the first mold half to define a wedge-shaped passage, having an inlet and outlet, between the tongue and groove. At least one roving of long fibers carrying a dispersion of thermoplastic resin can be pulled through the wedge-shaped passage to consolidate the resin and form a tape, while at the same time the inlet and outlet clearances between the tongue and groove are adjusted to thereby adjust the pressure on the roving(s).
