A B S T R A C T PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A CATALYST COMPOSITION, AND USE OF A CATALYST COMPOSITION SO PREPARED IN THE CONVERSION OF SYNTEIESIS GAS A catalyst composition is prepared by a process comprising the following steps: a) a faujasite type zeolite is ion-exchanged with a solution containing ruthenium ions; b) the ruthenium-containing zeolite is contacted with a solution comprising a borane; c) the borane-treated zeolite is subsequently calcined and d) the calcined zeolite is reduced. The composition so prepared is very suitably used as catalyst in the conversion of synthesis gas.
