ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A spool-like stator support structure (20) for an inductor type dynamoelectric machine (10) incor- porates stamped, annular end plates (36). Each end plate (36) has a plurality of spaced-apart recessed landings (51) along its outer edge and, preferably, a plurality of axially outward extending tabs (48) which cooperate to precisely position a plurality of circumferentially distributed generally U-shaped armature elements (38) mounted thereon. The end plate (36) is also provided with a rabbet (46) or press fit along its radially inner edge for mating with an end of the central cylindrical tube (32) of the spool-like support (20). Cooling ports (52) also distributed about the inner edge of the laminated end plate (36) provide for ventilation of the exterior of said central tube (32). The end plate (36) can be assembled from a grouping of standardized stampings (51, 52, 53) or from a single stamping (64).
