APPLICANT: ROOPEROL (NA) NV TITLE: ROOPEROL AND ITS DERIVATIVES ABSTRACT The invention relates to a new chemical compound which has been called rooperol and certain derivatives thereof of the general formula Image in which the bond between carbons 4 and 5 is unsaturated and in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 may be hydrogen, alkyl-, aryl-, aralkyl-, acyl-, halide, hydroxyl, -NH2, -SH, amide or the like substituents where any group attached to the pentenyn chains will be considered as a substituent or both R1 and R2 taken together may be =O, =S, =N-Y (where Y = H or OH) or the like; A and/or B may be hydrogen or a substitutent group and preferably an alkyl-, aryl- or aralkyl group which may include one or more oxygen, nitrogen, sulphur or other atoms in the carbon chain or cyclic structure, or in sustitutent groups attached to them. These compounds find use as anti- cancer agents.
