ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE According to the present invention, a lighted indicium for securement to an exterior wall of a building or other structure is possible. The indicium is preferably in the form of a plaque for securement to a wall of a building or dwelling and comprises means for defining a rectangular-like front face having an opaque cover about a region shaped as a numeric or alphabetic indicium which allows light to pass therethrough. A light source is provided which radiates light through the indicium to provide ready recognition of the indicium under low light conditions. Preferably, the front face has side portions for defining a rectangular-like box into which the light source, low voltage lamps is placed and secured. The plaque preferably has a translucent front face for diffusing the light to provide more even lighting of the indicium and is properly sealed for exterior use. The arrangement uses low voltage high output lamps and separate plaques may be arranged in abutting relationship for fully defining the numeric or alphabetic code given to a building or dwelling.
