A B S T R A C T A method of obtaining a solution of interferon from interferon- expressing bacterial cells, wherein a first suspension of interferon-containing bacterial cells is acidified, substan- tially all of the suspending liquid is removed from the cells, a second suspension of the acidified cells is prepared, said second suspension is at least neutralised, and the inter- feron-containing liquid is separated from the suspended cells.
