ABSTRACT The corner fitting for freight containers, particularly for small and medium-sized containers, as disclosed includes at least three mutually perpendicular walls defining a cube. The outer pyramidal corner region of the cube remote from the container is omitted to form a triangular surface confining the three walls. This oblique triangular surface and at least one of the three walls have at least one opening each for engaging housing and/or coupling elements. The rear wall of the container fitting may be formed by a triangular junction plate connecting the three corners of the cube walls at their portions diagonally opposite to the removed pyramid, the junction plate extending substantially parallel to the triangular surface of the corner fitting. The fitting is preferably formed from a blank of circular or semicircular general shape by bending and welding steps in such a manner that two quarter surface portions of the blank overlap each other to form one reinforced fitting wall.
