21489-6789 Process for the preparation of 4-phenylpyrrole derivatives Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to a process for the preparation of 4-phenylpyrrole derivatives of the formula I Image (I) wherein R1 is CN, CHO or COO(C1-C6)alkyl, R2 is hydrogen, CH2CH2CN or CH2CH2COO(C1-C6)alkyl, R is halogen, C1-C6alkyl or C1-C6haloalkyl and n is 0, 1 or 2, which comprises reacting a phenacylamine of formula II Image (II) with a compound of formula III T-CH=CH-R1 (III) to give an intermediate of formula IV Image (IV) and cyclising said intermediate, in the presence of base, to give the compound I.
