-8- ABSTRACT A digital multiplying apparatus is presented which digitally multiplies a digital signal by a coefficient. The apparatus comprises means for providing a plurality of fraction signals of the digital signal. The fractions are powers of one-half times the digital signal. Means are provided for multiplying the smallest of these fractions by a factor to obtain a remainder signal representing the value left after expressing the coefficient as a sum of powers of one-half. Finally, means for combining the plurality of fraction signals and the remainder signal are provided.
