ABSTRACT METHOD FOR EXPOSING MINERALS IN OPEN-CUT MINING The present invention relates to a method for exposing minerals in open-cut mining with the aid of a stacker which transports the layer of overburden, removed by excavators in one or more stages, over the open-cut and stacks it directly and at least one excavator-unit which dumps directly on the plane of the stacker or on a lower plane. A pre-requisite for satisfactory operation of this method is to be able to allow the co-operating machines to work independently of each other. Hence the purpose upon which the invention is based is to provide a method of excavating which reduces to a minimum the loss of time and productivity arising as the pieces of equipment pass each other, thus considerably improving the economics of the mining method. In order to accomplish this purpose, it is proposed that when a stacker meets an excavator-unit travelling on the same plane, the excavator-unit shall proceed into an area behind the stacker to allow the latter to pass, which can be accomplished, if necessary, by means of a brief change in the directions of travel of the pieces of equipment.
