Abstract: Structures comprising an element of polyethylene bonded to a surface of a metal substrate, and methods of making such structures A structure in which polyethylene is bonded to a metal substrate is made by a method comprising the steps of engaging a surface (3a) of a film (3) of linear low density polyethylene with a surface (2a) of a sheet metal or foil (2); heating at least the sheet metal (2); and applying pressure to opposed free surfaces (3b),(4b) of the film and sheet metal to engage the film with the metal. The laminated article may be folded to a pouch or alternatively deformed by press tools to make trays or hollow articles. The polyethylene is essentially a linear low density polyethylene having a density in the range of from 0.91 to 0.94 g.m1-1 produced by low pressure poly- merisation of ethylene and but-1-ene.
