CRYSTALLINE MATERIALS AND PROCESS FOR THEIR MANUFACTURE Abstract A crystalline material comprises a metallosilicate core and an enveloping metallosilicate shell of the same crystal structure but different chemical composition, and is formed by conventional zeolite synthesis techniques by crystallizing the shell from an appropriate reaction mixture onto crystals of the core, the latter having been preformed or formed in situ. Such materials are useful as hydrocarbon conversion catalysts and, especially when they have the ZSM-12 structure, as shale oil upgrading catalysts.
