A B S T R A C T PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF HXDROCARBONS Process for the catalytic preparation of hydrocarbons containing at least two carbon atoms per molecule from a gas mixture comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide, which comprises passing the gas mixture through a reaction zone containing catalyst particles, while removing heat from the reaction zone by indirect heat exchange with a cooling medium which flows via one or more helical patterns, each pattern containing one or more helices.
