ABSTRACT FLUORINATION PROCESS Nuclear fluorinated phthaloyl and terephthaloyl fluorides, especially tetrafluoroterephthaloyl fluoride, are obtained by reacting a corresponding nuclear chlorinated acid halide with potassium fluoride in a polar aprotic solvent, preferably sulpholane, at a temperature of from 100 to 200°C, preferably 120 to 150°C. The products are useful chemical intermediates for the synthesis of pesticides.
