A B S T R A C T H2S, CO2 and COS are removed from a gas by oxidizing the H2S to sulphur in an absorbent mixture, separating a sweet gas from absorbent admixture containing CO2, COS, S and reduced reactant, stripping CO2 and COS from the admixture (from which sulphur may be removed and which may be regenerated), contacting the CO2 and COS stripped off with a hydrolysis catalyst and removing H2S from the gas formed by the hydrolysis.
