12 583 Abstract A filter apparatus is equipped with easily releasable coupling ends (28) of the inlet and outlet connection pieces (27) respectively, and the top wall (11) carrying the inlet and outlet connection pieces is connected un- releasably to the adjoining peripheral wall of the filter housing. For maintenance or cleaning, the filter appara- tus is exchanged as a self-contained unit. Since the fil- ter housing itself is not separable in operational terms and there are therefore no sensitive separable seals between housing parts, the housing cross-section can be of any form and therefore especially cuboid for the most effective possible utilization of space (Figure 1).
