ABSTRACT A switched capacitor adaptive line equalizer adapted to receive input signals having several signal rates and to supply equalized output signals is described. A switched capacitor equalizer comprising a low-pass filter for controlling the fre- quency band of the input signals, and gain variable circuitry responsive to the output of said low-pass filter means, for selectively setting a prescribed ?? characteristic. A control circuit is responsive to the output level of the switched capacitor equalizer and the input signal rate for selectively adjusting the characteristic of the switched capacitor equalizer. The gain variable circuitry processes the input signals on a time division basis in two channels to produce the processed signals and at the same time selects the characteristic for operation on one of the two channels when another operation is performed on the other.
