- 22 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Security strips containing magnetizable components, which are used, for example, to safeguard articles in stores, are manufactured by first applying to a continuous carrier band (11) which is moved progressively in fixed cycles and which has a double-sided adhesive film (11'), strip sections or elements (13') of a hard magnetic material which are spaced equally and which are fed from supply reels (12) and cut into lengths, or a continuous strip (13") of a hard magnetic material respectively, and then a continuous band (16) of a soft magnetic material and a continuous cover band (17) are drawn off simultaneously from supply reels (14 and 15), are laminated and then combined by means of a rolling process with the carrier hand (11) carrying the hard magnetic strip sections or elements (13' or 13") respectively, to form a security strip assembly (200); and thereafter the multilayer, continuous security strip assembly (200) is passed through a demagnetizing device (109) and is then wound onto a takeup reel (108).
