ABSTRACT Residue particles from a removal opening of a pressure gasification reactor that operates on the fluidized-bed or fly- ash principle the residue particles are removed by means of a worm conveyor. To avoid pressure fluctuations in the actual gasification process and to carry out a continuously operating removal of the residue, the discharge opening of the spiral conveyor is provided with an adjustable pressure system that acts on a closing element so as to exert a closing pressure. Means are provided to enable the closing pressure to exceed the pressure in the reactor.
