ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a method of receiving messages transmitted by radio in the form of coded characters, particularly a receiver for personnel location, a message is stored in blocks together with an error indication, and the same message when repeated is stored in a register. h final version of the message is constructed by com- bining the blocks associated with the stored messages and containing the least number of errors, if possible error-free blocks. For gui- dance in the combination of blocks from different messages, an identity code is inserted in each message. Characters are inserted in the messages to indicate a repeated message, the number of blocks in the messages, and that several messages are to be joined into a continuous message.
