ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of analysis using a pipette tube having an open end and a piston movable axially therein for aspiration of fluid into, or dispensing of fluid from, the tube through the tube end. The method consists of aspiration of a predetermined volume of liquid into the tube, directing radiation from the piston into the liquid in the tube, and measuring the radiation emitted from the liquid. The method is useful for the analysis of biological fluids for the presence or absence of certain biochemical components.
