ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Process for preparing perfluorobutadiene and higher perfluoroalkadienes, with terminal double bonds, said process being characterized in that .alpha., .omega.-diiodoperfluoroalkanes are deiodofluorinated by means of an organometallic compound in the presence either of an aprotic solvent belonging to the class of hydrocarbons, or of an aprotic polar solvent. The process is suitable to be realized on an industrial scale with short reac- tion times, with economical and not polluting reacting materials. Perfluoroalkadienes are useful in many fields for example as termonomer, in small amount in the presence of vinylidene fluor- ide and hexafluoropene to produce fluoroelastomers curable with peroxides; as termonomer in the presence of C2F4 and trifluoroni- trosomethane to manufacture another curable fluorinated elasto- mer.
