ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A valve including a diffuser for the recovery of static pressure energy is disposed in the valve. The point of flow separation is stabilized by introducing, into the region where the flow separation point can occur, a volume of the working medium from a portion of the valve having a higher pressure than such region. By stabilizing the flow separation point against vibration, resulting noise is minimized.
