ABSTRACT Novel compounds of the formula Image (I) in which Az is 1,2,4-triazoL-1-yl or -4-yl or imidazol-1-yl, A is the keto group or the -CH(OH)- or -C(OH)R grouping, R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, optionally substituted phenyl or optionally subsituted phenalkyl, X is optionally substituted phenyl, Y1, Y2 and Y3 each independently is hydrogen, halogen, or alkyl, and R1 is any of many specified possibilities subject to certain provisos, are obtained, for example, when halogenoketones are reacted with azoles, and the azolyl ketones obtained are alkylated if appropriate, and, if appropriate, are also reduced with hydrides or reacted with organo- metallic compounds. The compounds (I) as such or as acid addition products or metal salt complexes are suitable for use as plant protection agents, and can be employed for combating fungi, especially those fungi which cause powdery mildew diseases.
