- 1 - Abstract The invention provides prostaglandin derivatives having cell membrane permeability characterized in that the carboxy group at the 1-position of the prostaglandin is combined with a cell membrane permeable substance selected from the group consisting of retinol, hydroxy- acetylretinol and phenothiazine through the mediation of an ester bond to the hydroxy group of the retinol or hydroxyacetylretinol group or an amide bond to the amino group of the phenothiazine. These compounds have much improved cell membrane permeability compared to the prostaglandins themselves.
